Your body is a sacred place. Spiritually, it is the home of your soul before you go back to your creator. Scientifically, it is the biological mechanism that allows you to exist and function in our tri-dimensional universe. Basically, it is you. As such, you must learn how to get and maintain a great body.

You cannot afford to eat everything that comes in sight. This is particularly important in today’s world where there are so many canned, processed, and unhealthy junk foods going around. To help you protect your body, we’ll be sharing five solid tips to get and maintain a great body:

1. Drink lots of water

This is among the most important things we can say to you now. Water aids your metabolism and your metabolism aids weight loss. Alongside that, if you drink just enough water before a meal, you’ll be too filled up to eat much. As such, you’ll have less calories than if you didn’t drink water. Smart, right? Finally, water has a way of helping you detoxify by flushing out impurities.

2. Exercise at least thrice a week

This one almost goes without saying. It is easy to come up with excuses. “I work a 9-5 job and Lagos traffic is too much.” “I have to go to school from 8-6 and I still need to do my assignments.” All of these are valid and completely understandable. However, school and work would be pretty much useless to you if your body falls apart out of abandonment. So, rearrange your schedule and find time to work out. After all, it comes with significant benefits.

3. Drink green tea

This kind of tea has been in existence for quite a while. Regardless, it won’t be too surprising if you’ve never heard of it before as it’s not quite as common as some others.

Anyway, a great way to stay in shape is by drinking green tea. It contains a lot of antioxidants that people refer to as catechins. These can help you to lose weight.

4. Cut back on soda

A lot of Nigerians are rather hooked on Fanta, Pepsi, Coke, etc. Sadly, they contain a lot of sugar and they’re not entirely good for you. Sometimes, they’re necessary. If you’ve had a long day with nothing to eat, it can give you the needed sugar rush. Otherwise, try to cut it down to about once in a week.

5. Practice intermittent fasting

This type of fasting isn’t for religious purposes. However, it is still useful for weight loss. It involves staying away from food throughout the day except during a particular time frame. So, you can keep away from food for 16 hours and consume all the food you need for the day within the remaining 8 unbroken hours. The only thing you’re free to take all day long is water.

Keeping your body in shape is not an option. It’s mandatory. However, don’t be too hard on yourself. Alongside that, if you have any underlying medical condition, you should see your doctor before making major lifestyle changes for weight loss.
