On the internet today, you’ll see tons of photography tips for women. They’ll talk about this and that and how they can look their absolute best in pictures. But, whatever happened to photography tips for men? Unfortunately, they aren’t exactly the most common things on the web. At best, you might just get articles about poses to use in pictures.

Now, it’s a bit understandable, considering that a significant portion of men aren’t huge picture fans. You’re either too busy, or you just don’t think you look good. But, at some point in your life, you’ll have to make memories, and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to end up looking like Shrek on some of the most important days of your life.

So, here are a couple of useful photography tips for men. They won’t magically turn you into David Beckham or Trevor Jackson, but you’ll definitely look good.

  1. Lighting is important

For some reason, people think it’s cool to take pictures within four walls or to back a source of light while shooting. I wonder why that’s so, but it really doesn’t do much for your appearance in the picture. The thing is that your camera needs proper light to take good images in the same way that your eyes need light to see. What’s worse is that your camera isn’t as good as your eyes. For that reason, it doesn’t adjust as quickly or as easily as your eyes. So, if you must take good pictures, make sure your lighting is good, and you’re not backing your source of light. Better yet, just go outside and use the sun.

  1. Editing apps can be of great help too

This is one of the photography tips for men that might seem like a colossal waste of energy. After all, who has the time to start scrolling through different filters and whatnot? But, these apps were created for a reason. You don’t have to spend several hundred hours trying to edit your black hair white. But, a few finishing touches here and there will definitely go a long way.

  1. Find out what works for you

We’ll admit that this one is a bit vague but just give us a minute to break it down. What you want to do here is to pull out old pictures of you and study them. Are you the type of person who blinks before the camera takes the picture? Do you always position your head such that you get a double chin? Is your posture just off? Look out for all these and try to figure out what your mistakes are. Then, come up with new ways to tackle them. For example, you can try stretching your neck forward to avoid the double chin, and you can work on better posture.

  1. Dress well

This part cannot be overemphasized. Even if you’re just going to the beach and you have nothing but a pair of beach shorts, you still need to ensure they look their best. You don’t want something faded that’s tearing across the seams. Invest in quality clothes and always look in the mirror. That way, you can avoid common mistakes like your tie being crooked or buttoning up in the wrong order. Additionally, your clothes must be clean at all times.

Unfortunately, when a white shirt is involved, it might not always be easy because armpit stains will show up at one point or the other. So, how do you deal with that? Click here to find out.

  1. Practice

You can’t get good at pictures if you never take pictures. That’s like trying to lose weight without ever working out. It doesn’t work that way. So, as often as you can, take pictures. Eventually, you’ll be glad you did.
