Did you know scientists have discovered ways to make diamonds “on demand”? Given the right conditions – temperatures as high as 2,550 degrees Fahrenheit and pressure 55,000 times greater than that of earth’s atmosphere – they can turn graphite into sparkling gems.

It’s amazing to think these priceless gems could be created in a lab; the extreme conditions needed to create the stones boggle the mind! No wonder the ancient Greek word for diamond, adamas, means “invincible”!

At some point in your life, you will face overwhelming circumstances — moments when the heat or pressure seems too much to bear. Rather than allowing the circumstances to crush you, with the right mindset, you can harness the power of difficult circumstances for good.

Challenges invite you to look deep within to draw on the resources God placed in your life before you were even conceived. (See Jeremiah 1:5, 29:11.) Through prayer and the enabling power of the Spirit of God, you will discover that God has already wired you to overcome your circumstances and achieve success.

God may be using His sovereign power over a situation to reveal the fortitude and creativity lying dormant within you.

Hard times challenge you to pray, to trust God, and to believe. This takes discipline, which is what will make you powerful. Success only happens when discipline and preparation meet the possibility of an opportunity – opportunities most often hidden within your most difficult problems.

If you persist, choosing not to give up or give in, you will build the spiritual and mental strength to overcome any circumstance.

Remember, the pressure that creates a diamond also makes it one of the hardest substances on earth. This is the state where the noble become nobler; a state where your problem-solving skills flow, the champion within emerges, and the inventor, the genius, and the general receive strategies to turn the tide in the heat of battle. With the necessary insight, foresight, and oversight, you can leverage any obstacle to your advantage.

How have you chosen to respond to the circumstances you face? Have you turned to the Lord in the heat of the moment and asked Him to strengthen you and reveal the beauty He has placed within you, or are you buckling under the pressure?

Praying you will allow life’s challenges to reveal your true beauty.
