Reasons You Should Eat Fruits

It is no news that fruits are healthy foods in themselves and when taken, aid digestion and give the body, the nutrients it cannot get from regular foods. When you eat fruits, it contributes to our overall health and well-being. Fruits help guard against disease, lower rates of heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure.

First, fruits help to increase your energy level. There’s plenty of natural sugar in fruit converted to energy and ultimately makes you more active. And this happens almost immediately because fruits don’t take much time to digest as other foods.

You should also avoid taking fruits when you want to sleep because your eyes might be wide open when you should sleep because of the energy level you’ll get from it.

Dr Shanker Pasupathy, Senior Consultant and Director of the LIFE Centre at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), a member of the SingHealth group, debunk myths about fruit consumption.

She says we can eat fruits along with other foods too.  She reveals that the body produces digestive enzymes for protein, fat, and carbohydrates, which help it digest mixed meals. Besides, since the stomach has a high concentration of hydrochloric acid, bacteria is killed before it can reproduce so fermentation cannot take place in the stomach.

Fruits help relieve stress. If you ever get stressed, have a good bite of your choice fruit. Research reveals that you crave for sweet foods, particularly when you are under stress because these foods trigger the release of mood-enhancing compounds in the brain.

Fruit stimulates our memories. Research reveals that fruit helps to stimulate our memories. It is known as the ultimate brain fuel because it has a positive effect on our brains and makes us recall information much easier and faster.
